Motivation from an Underdog

Well, things are really hotting up with the Underdog Marketing Challenge and the office is just a-buzz! Shaun, our resident underdog, has really thrown himself into the challenge even tho he’s also working two jobs. The poor guy has to earn a crust so he’s working at a Pizza joint AND a hardware store. We miss him on the party scene but he doesn’t seem to care. And in a weird way, his commitment to building his own business has kinda permeated around the office.

I mean, I love my job but when you are in PR then image is everything. Hang on, back it up. Yes, image is a MAJOR part but my boss keeps telling me that ‘authenticity’ is the key – I must remember that. Fake it ‘till you make it right? Anyway, I was painting my nails the other day – typing really takes the polish off the ends – and Shaun came racing in for a meeting with Penelope, Alex and Terry. He’d be working until midnight at the pizza place after a full day at the hardware store and he looked kinda shagged, but he was really buzzy. He was tired and he had been working hard and working on his new personal training business and picking up some new personal training clients – I didn’t know why he wasn’t dead on his feet! Shaun is a cool guy but he sometimes looks like he’s been dragged through a hedge backwards – ya know – he’s got the bed hair thing going on. So I asked him how he was handling the pace.

He said it was his adrenal gland or something – no, hang on……ADRENALIN – he said that he was so pumped with the process of realising that having his own business was going to be a reality, that he was just on a high all the time. Eve tho he was working two jobs AND starting his own business, he was passionate and interested and that just kept him going. He said that by being involved with the Underdog Marketing Challenge and having people he could turn to for advice and a plan of attack, he was feeling confident that he could achieve his goals.

That’s not to say he doesn’t need some motivation but he was telling me that it was great to see progress and to know he was going in the right direction because he was having expert help. And I thought about all those people who also want their own business but don’t know where to turn and I decided that I should really be more supportive of the Underdog Marketing Challenge because I was working for a company that actually gave a shit about the little business people – and that’s pretty cool.

Shaun made me realise that I am involved in something pretty special and lost of girls would give their Manolo’s to be in my position. Shit, I don’t work two jobs – I barely work one, actually. Shit, I’m such a shit. If Shaun can work two jobs AND develop a third as his own then I can get off my Ksubi’s and be a real part of it.

Funny, they are all helping Shaun and Shaun just helped me. Cool. So to all you have-your-own-business-wannabies – and the underdog stars who have already started and need expert help, then get involved. Sign up for the free up-dates, follow Shaun’s progress and do yourselves a BIG favour – get top knotch advice and expert help – be your own boss, own your own destiny. I am soooo pumped.

See ya till next time. Ooo Roo (that’s Aussie for ‘good-bye) – Clarianna.
